On December 15, 2010,
I had a bunion surgery on my left foot inDr. Shanahan's office. He also operated on my hammer toe at the same time. Two months have passed since the surgery, and I feel great! I can highly recommend having the surgery done right in the office. There is a regular surgical room with a professional anesthesiologist. Doctor Shanahan and the attending surgical staff explained carefully the whole routine to me. I felt very comfortable.
The procedure was done very professionally. Having it done right in the office was extremely convenient and quick. Each visit in the office has been a wonderful experience. Everybody - the doctor, the receptionists, therapy assistants, and all other staff members have been always exceptionally friendly and helpful.

"I just had foot surgery at the Lakes SurgiCare Center. I was made to feel like a celebrity. The staff, process and the surgery were of top grade. "When I found out I had to have surgery on my foot, I imagined having to go to the hospital because I needed anesthetic. I was surprised when Dr. Shanahan and Dr. Boyette said the surgery would be right in the office with the help of a nurse anesthetist. I arrived only minutes before the surgery, which would not ever happen at a hospital. Once in the exam room, both doctors explained the procedure. The nurse anesthetist explained her part and the nurses added in additional details regarding what to expect Everyone in the office was very thorough and professional. "I had the honor of being operated on in Dr. Shanahan's surgical suite on October 7, 2009. Instead of showing up hours earlier than my scheduled surgery, I was prepped and set up within minutes of my scheduled surgery. It was all quite professional! I had the most personal attention from the physician, the CRNA, and the staff that I had ever received in a Doctor's office, let alone a hospital out-patient unit. Leave it to the young Doctor's to find a better and much more economical way for us to enjoy surgery, rather than fear it. I was far less anxious compared to going to the hospital and the environment was certainly less chaotic. Hopefully this is a process other surgeons will follow in the future to help with hospital overload, sky high pricing of surgery and the impersonal care that most people seem to get in an out-patient situation."

"I had bunion surgery performed by Dr. Shanahan 2 years ago at a local hospital, and then I had my other foot corrected in his office this past summer. The experience in the office-based surgery center was much better. Everything was easier and more convenient. I was home within several hours rather than spending half of my day at the hospital. His staff treated me very well and I felt very confident. I would definitely do it again in his office! (but I am glad I don't have to since I don't have 3 feet!)
